Victoria, Australia – 1 September 2025 – Merribek City Council in Victoria, Australia, and Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Nepal will formally establish a Sister City partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 15 September 2025.
The agreement represents a significant step in fostering international cooperation and will provide a framework for collaboration in areas including culture, education, trade, and community development.
Hon. Consul Mr. Nirajan Gauli, representing the Consulate of Nepal in Victoria, said the partnership would open meaningful opportunities for both cities.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to building stronger connections and promoting mutual growth. It is a milestone achievement for both Merribek and Bharatpur,” he said.
The Consulate of Nepal, Victoria, expressed appreciation to community leaders, organisations, and supporters who contributed to the progress of this initiative.
The signing ceremony is expected to strengthen ties between Australia and Nepal at the local government level, enhancing people-to-people links and long-term cooperation.
