Kathmandu, Nepal Oct 18, 2025 —
All four security agencies of Nepal have expressed their full readiness to provide security for the upcoming House of Representatives election, scheduled to be held on Falgun 21, 2082 B.S
The commitment was made during a high-level meeting convened at Sheetal Niwas on Saturday, initiated by President Ramchandra Paudel and coordinated by Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The meeting brought together the chiefs of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department, along with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and other cabinet members.
According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, all security chiefs assured the government that their forces are fully prepared to handle any challenges that may arise during the election period. “The heads of all security agencies informed the meeting that they are ready to ensure necessary security arrangements for the upcoming national election,” the statement said.
The discussion primarily focused on maintaining a peaceful environment during the election, addressing potential security threats, and ensuring coordination among security institutions. Participants also reviewed past elections and the lessons learned in managing complex security situations.
Security officials noted that Nepal has successfully conducted elections even under more difficult circumstances in the past, expressing confidence that the upcoming polls would also proceed smoothly.
Prime Minister Karki emphasized that the government is prioritizing the creation of a peaceful and secure environment for voters across the country. “The government is fully committed to supporting the security agencies and ensuring that all citizens can exercise their democratic rights without fear or interference,” she stated.
Home Minister Aryal added that the government is ready to mobilize the necessary resources and logistics to strengthen the election security framework. Preparations are already underway to deploy security personnel in all 77 districts well ahead of election day.
Observers say that coordination among the four security agencies will be crucial in maintaining law and order during the election period, especially in areas identified as sensitive or prone to unrest.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the detailed security plan and final polling procedures in the coming weeks.
