MCA-Nepal Signs US$23.66 Million in Road Maintenance Contracts Under MCC Compact

The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal has announced the recent signing of two key contracts totalling US$23.66 million for road maintenance under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal Compact. These contracts will strengthen Nepal’s road infrastructure and mark a significant step toward advancing the country’s long-term economic growth.

The agreements include a US$20 million contract with the Sharma–Kumar Joint Venture for road rehabilitation works using Full-Depth Reclamation and Superpave Technology on the Dhankhola–Lamahi section of the East–West Highway in Dang district, Lumbini Province. In addition, a US$3.66 million contract has been signed with Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd. (ICT) for supervision of these works and for periodic maintenance of the Narayanghat–Mugling Road Section.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Government of Nepal, U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean Thompson, MCA-Nepal Executive Director Khadga Bisht, MCC Deputy Country Director–Nepal Sanjay Poudyal, and members of the MCA-Nepal Board.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Thompson congratulated all those involved, emphasizing that the project represents much more than a single investment. He noted that it reflects the strength of the U.S.–Nepal partnership, the momentum of the MCC Nepal Compact, and a shared commitment to delivering timely and tangible results for the people of Nepal, as well as for American businesses operating in the country.
