Australia to Host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Annual Leaders’ Summit
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake an official visit to Australia from 8 to 10 July 2026 to participate in the Australia–India Annual Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne.
According to a media release issued by the Australian Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday, the summit will focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, defence, security, technology, and economic development under the Australia–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Albanese described India as one of Australia’s most important strategic and economic partners, highlighting its position as the world’s fourth-largest and fastest-growing economy.

He added that he looked forward to further strengthening the deep partnership between the two nations.
The visit follows the two leaders’ previous meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg in November 2025 and is expected to advance cooperation on shared regional and global priorities.
The Australia–India relationship has expanded significantly in recent years, with both countries increasing collaboration in economic partnerships, education, critical minerals, clean energy, defence, and people-to-people ties.
