DARWIN & PALMERSTON, Northern Territory, Australia – Over the weekend of April 26–27, 2025, the Northern Territory witnessed a vibrant wave of wellness, empowerment, and multicultural unity as Nourish Nation Foundation, in partnership with Smart Health Global, hosted two major back-to-back community programs that tackled youth issues and promoted holistic health for all.
Expected more than 300 attendees over two days, the events—“Drug, Alcohol and Youth: Awareness Through Empowerment” and “Healthy Together: Empowering Multicultural Wellness”—offered education, engagement, and inspiration at key venues in Palmerston and Malak.
DAY 1: Youth-Focused Intervention Sparks Dialogue and Empowerment

At The Boulevard in Palmerston and the Multicultural Council NT in Malak, the focus was firmly on supporting young people—particularly those from CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds—in navigating the dangers of drug and alcohol misuse. The event, titled Drug, Alcohol and Youth, featured expert panels, open forums, and practical tools aimed at resilience and prevention.

- Dr. Raju Adhikari – Alcohol and Mental Health Impacts
- Dr. Sworaaz Thapa – GP Registrar, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress
- Mr. Bhairab Yogi – NT Representative, Nourish Nation Foundation
Hosted by Priyasha Nepal and Anita Rijal, with coordination led by Sangita Chapagain (Global Program Coordinator), the sessions included meditation, yoga, and youth-led dialogues, creating a safe and open space for learning and sharing.
DAY 2: Holistic Health Meets Cultural Celebration

Running concurrently, Healthy Together: Empowering Multicultural Wellness transformed community spaces into hubs of energy, movement, and cross-cultural connection. Residents of all ages took part in:
- Yoga and meditation demonstrations, adapted for diverse communities
- Fitness and movement sessions
- Visits to community gardens, promoting sustainability and social cohesion
- Multilingual wellness materials and toolkits
The event underscored the vital link between culture, health, and community connection.
Government and Community Support at the Core. These initiatives were made possible through support from the Northern Territory Government and regional partners including NRNA NT, Multicultural Council NT, Nari Nikunja Women Forum, Healthy Living NT, and several grassroots organisations.
