Autistic Student Achieves Historic B+ in Grade 12, Breaking Stereotypes and Setting an Inspiring Example
Kathmandu, August 6 –
Autistic student Aadesh Raj Kafle has achieved an outstanding GPA of 3.20 (B+) in his Grade 12 final examinations, marking a historic success that challenges societal misconceptions and highlights the power of inclusive education.
According to Sabita Upreti, founder of the Special School and Disability Rehabilitation Center (SSDRC) and a long-time advocate for children with autism, “Aadesh’s success is not just a personal milestone—it is the culmination of 15 years of continuous effort, collaboration, and dedication by our institution.”
Aadesh received specialized support and education at SSDRC for seven years before enrolling in Rainbow Boarding Secondary School in Bhaktapur in Grade 6. Through inclusive education practices, he smoothly transitioned into mainstream schooling and continued his academic journey, ultimately earning a B+ in Grade 12.
Contributions Beyond the Classroom
Aadesh’s achievements extend beyond academics.
- In 2019, he represented Nepal at the Special Olympics World Games held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, winning a silver medal in futsal among participants from 195 countries.
- He also became the first autistic Nepali representative to share his personal experiences at an international autism conference in Australia, which included participants from 115 countries.
A Testament to Family and Institutional Support
His parents, Deepak Kafle and Urmila Kafle, have supported him with unwavering love, patience, and dedication. “There is still a mindset in society that sees autistic children as incapable,” said Deepak Kafle. “But Aadesh’s success proves that perception wrong.”
SSDRC emphasizes that, “With the right opportunities, proper guidance, dedicated teachers, and family support, every child—including those with special needs—can learn and thrive.”
A Model for Inclusive Education
This success story, made possible through the coordination between Rainbow School, SSDRC, and the family, stands as a shining example of effective inclusive education in Nepal. As Sabita Upreti states, “When we understand a child’s unique needs and provide an environment filled with love, patience, and tailored education, every child can achieve remarkable success.”
The Kendra News Australia family also extends heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Aadesh Raj Kafle for a bright future ahead.
