President Ramchandra Paudel has appointed Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister under Article 61 of the Constitution.

Karki, who was the country’s first female Chief Justice, has now become Nepal’s first female Prime Minister. Preparations are underway to administer the oath of office shortly.

At the President’s Office, Vice-President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal, senior government officials, representatives of the security agencies, and members of the diplomatic corps have gathered.

The chiefs of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department have also arrived at Sheetal Niwas. Ahead of the swearing-in, officials are finalizing the draft of the appointment letter, the oath-taking ceremony, and the agenda for the first Cabinet meeting.
