Government of Nepal Honours Gen-Z Martyrs with National Funeral

The Government of Nepal has honoured those who lost their lives during the recent Gen-Z movement by declaring them national martyrs and conducting state funerals with full national respect.

At Pashupatinath Aryaghat, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Energy Minister Kulman Ghising draped the martyrs’ bodies with the national flag and paid tribute. Both ministers also joined the funeral procession—Minister Ghising leading from Gopi Krishna Hall with the flag in hand, while Minister Aryal joined from Chabahil Chowk with the flag draped across his shoulders.

Earlier, security forces offered a ceremonial salute at Hansamandap, Baneshwor. The funeral procession had started from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and passed through Maharajgunj, Chabahil, and Gaushala before reaching Aryaghat.

The Cabinet has also announced that the families of the deceased will receive immediate financial assistance of one lakh rupees for funeral rites. Furthermore, the government has designated October 1 as a national day of mourning in memory of the martyrs.
