A 35-year-old Perth woman has been sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting to possess nearly 11kg of methamphetamine smuggled into Australia in a container labelled as wall coating. She pleaded guilty in December 2024 and will serve a minimum of four years and 10 months.
The drugs, discovered by Australian Border Force (ABF) in October 2021 in an air cargo shipment from the US, were found to be mixed into a corrosive black paste. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) conducted a controlled delivery to a Scarborough apartment, leading to the arrest of the woman and a male accomplice at a Willetton property.
The man was sentenced in December 2023 to nine years and six months in prison. Authorities estimate the meth could have resulted in 110,000 street deals.
