$100 Million Boost for Faster Rail Between Canberra and Sydney

A major step toward improving transport links between Australia’s capital cities has been announced, with a $100 million funding partnership between the Federal Government, the NSW Government, and the ACT Labor Government to progress faster rail between Canberra and Sydney.

The investment is aimed at advancing planning and development for a modern rail connection designed to significantly reduce travel times, improve service reliability, and provide a more comfortable travel experience for passengers commuting between the two cities.

Government representatives say the project reflects a long-standing commitment to improving intercity transport infrastructure, with the initiative having been a key promise during the ACT election campaign.

The announcement marks an important milestone in the long-term effort to deliver a faster rail corridor, bringing the project one step closer to potential construction and future operation.
