Canberrans encouraged to celebrate local heroes before 31 July deadline
Canberra residents are being called on to recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals in their community by nominating them for the 2026 Australian of the Year Awards.
The prestigious awards honour Australians who have made significant contributions across a range of fields including community service, health, education, science, and advocacy. Categories include Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year, and Local Hero.
Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to make Canberra a better place? Whether it’s a volunteer, a health worker, a teacher, or a neighbour who makes a real difference—now is the time to give them the recognition they deserve.
Nominations are open until midnight on 31 July 2025.
