Kathmandu — October 14, 2025:
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has warned that it will disconnect power supply to industries failing to pay their outstanding dues related to trunk-line and dedicated feeder premium charges.
According to an official notice, the NEA has given industries until Kartik 2 (October 18) to clear their arrears. Industries that fail to make the payment within the deadline will face immediate power disconnection after midnight on the same day.
NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal confirmed that the authority’s board has already decided to strictly enforce the collection of unpaid amounts. “So far, none of the industries have cleared their dues, although a few industrial representatives have approached us for discussions. There is no alternative to payment — those who do not comply will have their electricity supply cut off,” Dhakal stated.
The NEA’s management team, led by Executive Director Manoj Silwal, has begun preparations to enforce the directive. The move aligns with the policy priority of Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, who, upon resuming his role, emphasized the recovery of long-standing dues owed by industrial consumers.
The NEA board meeting had earlier resolved to collect the arrears from all industries utilizing trunk-line and dedicated feeder services, which are subject to additional premium fees for priority and high-capacity electricity supply.
As of now, the authority reports that no payments have been received, but it remains firm on its stance that non-compliance will result in service disruption
