ACT Policing is alerting Canberrans to expected traffic disruptions tomorrow and Friday due to a guest of government visit.

Traffic disruptions may occur from approximately 8am on Thursday, 5 March 2026, through to 9am on Friday, 6 March 2026. Delays are expected on roads to and from Canberra Airport, as well as in the areas surrounding Yarralumla and Parliament House.

Travellers heading to Canberra Airport during these times are advised to allow additional travel time to ensure they arrive for scheduled flights, taking into account potential road delays.

Drivers who encounter traffic delays are reminded to follow police directions at all times. Motorists should not breach road rules, including crossing verges, paths or median strips. Authorities have indicated that disruptions will be kept to a minimum wherever possible.

If road users encounter police managing a motorcade, they are asked to:

  • Remain aware of their surroundings at all times

  • Obey police directions, particularly at intersections

  • Be patient

  • Avoid driving over median strips or performing illegal U-turns

  • Recognise that any delays will be brief as the motorcade moves through

ACT Policing has thanked Canberra drivers for their understanding and cooperation while the operation is underway.
