Second Corruption Case Filed Over Pokhara International Airport Project in Nepal

Nepal’s anti-corruption body, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, has filed a second case at the Special Court over alleged corruption linked to the construction of Pokhara Regional International Airport.

According to sources, the case names 21 individuals, including former Tourism Secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, along with two companies as defendants.

The anti-graft agency had previously indicated, while filing its first case, that further investigations were underway into issues such as tax exemptions and financial irregularities in the airport project. Authorities stated that this second case follows the continuation of that investigation.

The Pokhara airport, a key infrastructure project aimed at boosting tourism and regional connectivity, has faced increasing scrutiny over procurement processes and financial management, raising broader concerns about governance and accountability in large-scale public projects in Nepal.
