CBR NightCrew to Continue Supporting Canberra’s Nightlife Until 2028
Canberra, Australia — Late-night revellers in Canberra will continue to receive support from the popular CBR NightCrew program, with services confirmed to operate in the city centre until at least 2028.
Delivered in partnership with St John Ambulance ACT, the NightCrew initiative provides a visible, friendly presence across key nightlife areas. Volunteers patrol during weekend evenings—and Thursday nights during daylight saving—offering practical assistance to people enjoying a night out.
The service includes free first aid, phone charging, and simple comforts such as water or lollipops, along with guidance on getting home safely. It also provides a safe space for individuals who may need to rest or recover.
According to recent figures, the program has demonstrated strong results. Between October and December 2025, NightCrew volunteers assisted nearly 2,000 people and helped reduce or prevent 73 ambulance callouts, easing pressure on emergency services.
The ACT Government recently extended its agreement with St John Ambulance ACT to continue delivering the program for at least another two years, citing its positive impact on community safety and wellbeing.
Authorities say the initiative plays an important role in supporting a safer and more enjoyable nightlife environment, while also helping emergency responders focus on more critical cases.
