Nominations Open for 2026 Northern Territory Training Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Northern Territory Training Awards, recognising excellence and achievement across the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

Now in its 71st year, the awards celebrate the contributions of apprentices, trainees, students, businesses, and training organisations across a diverse range of industries. Winners will go on to represent the Territory at the prestigious Australian Training Awards later this year.

Northern Territory Minister for Education and Training, Jo Hersey, highlighted the importance of skills development in rebuilding the economy, noting that investment in training and education remains a key government priority.

The awards span industries including business, civil construction, electrotechnology, mechanical engineering, aquaculture, health, agriculture, and community services.

Among last year’s notable winners was Evie Rushforth, who completed a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering with South32. She was named the 2025 Austin Asche Apprentice of the Year before going on to win the national Australian Apprentice of the Year title.

Winners of the 2026 awards will be announced at a gala dinner in Darwin on 19 September 2026.

Nominations close on Thursday, 14 May 2026.
