Two Vehicles Seized After Alleged Street Racing in Greenway
Two vehicles have been seized after police allegedly caught an unaccompanied learner driver and a provisional licence holder street racing in Greenway, in the Canberra region.
According to ACT Policing, the incident occurred at about 11:10pm on Saturday, 11 April 2026. Officers travelling in an unmarked police vehicle along Drakeford Drive observed two Volkswagen Jetta sedans racing each other.
Police allege both vehicles reached speeds of up to 148 km/h in an 80 km/h zone before officers initiated a traffic stop.
The two drivers, both 18-year-old men, were identified as a learner driver—who was allegedly unaccompanied—and a provisional licence holder (P-plater). Both vehicles were seized at the scene.
The drivers are expected to be summonsed to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
ACT Policing reiterated that dangerous and antisocial driving behaviour, including street racing and burnouts, will not be tolerated.
Authorities are also encouraging members of the public to report traffic offences by submitting dashcam or mobile phone footage through the official ACT Policing online reporting portal.
