Jacqui Curtis PSM Appointed as New Australian Public Service Commissioner

The Australian Government has announced the appointment of Ms Jacqui Curtis PSM as the new Australian Public Service Commissioner, commencing a five-year term from 9 June 2026.

Ms Curtis is a senior executive in the Australian Public Service and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), a position she has held since 2016. She has also previously occupied senior leadership roles within the ATO and the former Department of Human Services.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, Ms Curtis holds the whole-of-APS role of Head of Profession for Human Resources, where she has led initiatives aimed at strengthening workforce capability, professionalism, and ethical standards across the public sector.

Her contributions to public service reform and capability development were recognised in 2022 with the awarding of the Public Service Medal (PSM), particularly for her leadership in establishing and advancing the APS HR Profession.

The Government also acknowledged the outgoing leadership of Dr Gordon de Brouwer PSM, thanking him for his service as Commissioner, and recognised Dr Subho Banerjee for serving in an acting capacity since February 2026.
