2026 ACT Multicultural Awards recognise community leaders and organisations
CANBERRA: The winners of the 2026 ACT Multicultural Awards have been announced, recognising individuals and organisations for their contributions to Canberra’s multicultural community. The awards acknowledge people and organisations that have demonstrated leadership, community service and excellence in promoting diversity and inclusion across the Australian Capital Territory.
This year’s winners include:
- Lifetime Achievement, 15th Anniversary Award: Ravi Krishnamurthy, Principal of the Canberra Sanskrit School, President of the Australian Multicultural Action Network, public servant and community leader.
- Individual Champion Award: Dr Nadir Saikal, State Director of the Afghan Peace Foundation.
- Community Organisation Champion Award: Navitas Skilled Futures, accepted by College Manager Sandesh Ban.
- Outstanding Excellence Award for Diversity and Inclusion: The Multicultural Association of Canberra Inclusion, accepted by President Nishi Puri.
- Art, Media or Culture Award: Kishor Nangrani, recognised for 20 years of volunteer broadcasting service.
The awards highlight the contribution of community leaders, organisations and volunteers in supporting Canberra’s diverse population and strengthening multicultural participation. The ACT Multicultural Awards are presented as part of the ACT Government’s recognition of multicultural community contributions.
