Human Rights Medal Finalist Dr Jane Tiller Champions Fair Access to Healthcare
Dr Jane Tiller, a Human Rights Medal finalist, has played a key role in efforts to prevent genetic discrimination and improve fair access to healthcare in Australia. As Legal and Policy Lead in Public Health Genomics at Monash University, Dr Tiller has worked to ensure people are not disadvantaged because of their genetic information, particularly when seeking insurance or healthcare.

Her work contributed to efforts that led to a national ban on the use of genetic test results in life insurance, which passed Parliament in April 2026.
Through research, advocacy and education, Dr Tiller continues to promote a future where people can access healthcare without fear of genetic discrimination. Her work will be recognised at the Human Rights Awards on 10 December.
