Kathmandu, October 16 — A 26-year-old man, claiming to be part of a so-called “Gen Z monitoring team,” has been arrested for threatening officials in multiple government offices.
Arjun Bahadur Shahi, from Panchdeval Binayak-4, Achham, was apprehended by police in Koteshwor, Kathmandu. He allegedly posed as a government inspector, entering offices without authorization and issuing warnings to officials.
Police recovered a police ID card from Shahi’s possession, bearing the name Kumar Sharma, an Assistant Sub-Inspector. Sharma had reported the card missing, and police are investigating how Shahi obtained it.
Authorities say Shahi and his team had recently visited CAAN, Nepal Airlines, and the CIAA, claiming to conduct “monitoring” and even demanding the resignation of CAAN Director-General Pradeep Adhikari.
Preliminary investigations indicate Shahi has a controversial past, including alleged involvement in a theft incident during his school years. Police are now tracking other individuals linked to Shahi’s activities.
