Governor-General Expresses Australia’s Condolences to Nepal Flood Victims
The Governor-General of Australia today visited the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra and called on Tara Gautam, Chargé d’Affaires of Nepal, to convey the condolences of Australians following the devastating floods in Nepal.
The Governor-General expressed solidarity with those who have lost loved ones or are still searching for family members, as well as people who have lost their homes and livelihoods. The Governor-General also acknowledged the emergency responders and volunteers supporting affected communities.
Australia thanked the Government of Nepal for its efforts to locate and assist Australians affected by the disaster.
The Governor-General said Australia values its warm and enduring friendship with Nepal and recognised the important contribution of the Nepalese community across Australia.
Australia stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal during this difficult time and extends its sincere sympathy and support.
