Nepal Parliamentary Hearing Committee Unanimously Approves Manoj Sharma as Chief Justice
Kathmandu, Nepal — Nepal’s Parliamentary Hearing Committee has unanimously approved the nomination of Manoj Sharma as the country’s next Chief Justice.
The decision was made during a committee meeting held in Kathmandu on Monday following a formal parliamentary hearing process. Sharma had appeared before the committee earlier for questioning and evaluation regarding his judicial experience, constitutional outlook, and plans for judicial reform.
Following the hearing, committee members endorsed his nomination without opposition, clearing the way for his formal appointment as the head of Nepal’s judiciary.
The appointment comes at a time when Nepal’s judicial system faces increasing public expectations for transparency, efficiency, and institutional accountability. Legal observers say Sharma’s leadership will play a significant role in strengthening public confidence in the country’s courts and constitutional institutions.
Once officially sworn in, Sharma will assume responsibility for leading the Supreme Court and overseeing Nepal’s judicial administration.
