Nepal Recognises Autism Advocate Sabita Upreti Among ‘Distinguished Women’

Sabita Upreti, founder and chairperson of the Special School and Rehabilitation Centre (SSDRC), has been recognised in a national exhibition featuring Nepal’s “Distinguished Women” for her contribution to the field of autism and disability inclusion.

Upreti has been actively working to support children and families affected by autism and other special needs, with a focus on education, rehabilitation and social inclusion.

Her photograph and profile are being featured in an exhibition organised to highlight women who have made significant contributions to Nepali society across different periods and fields.

The exhibition includes prominent historical figures, including Sita Mata and Bhrikuti, as well as distinguished women from contemporary Nepal.

The “Distinguished Women of Nepal” photo exhibition is being held from August 18 to 21 at the Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu.

The recognition highlights the growing public acknowledgment of women working in social development and disability-related fields in Nepal.

SSDRC, based in Jadibuti, Kathmandu, provides education and rehabilitation services for children and people with special needs.
