Kathmandu Nepal:
A social media campaign has been launched demanding the arrest of former Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and then– former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, holding them responsible for the government’s handling of the GenZ Movement protests.
Under the hashtags #ARRESTKPOLI, #ARRESTRAMESHLEKHAK, and #ARRESTMURDERERS, activists have intensified their online protest, accusing the two leaders of being behind the suppression of demonstrators during the GenZ movement.
A viral poster circulating on various platforms features photos of Oli and Lekhak labeled as “murderers,” with a message reading: “Arrest those responsible for the killings, or we will be forced to take action.”
Meanwhile, Sudan Gurung, coordinator of the We Are Nepal campaign, also shared the poster on social media, urging the public to join the online trend to pressure authorities to detain the two leaders.
Oli and Lekhak have already been restricted from leaving the capital city as investigations into the alleged crackdown continue, according to reports.
