The Reserve Bank of Australia has warned the ASX that its clearing and settlement facilities need major improvements in governance, culture, and risk management. In its 2025 assessment, the Bank said the ASX partly or did not observe several key financial stability standards, including operational risk. The findings follow a settlement disruption in December 2024.
The RBA recommended stronger risk frameworks, better business continuity planning, and more robust reporting controls. Assistant Governor Brad Jones said the ASX had “more work to do” to meet expectations for operators of critical national infrastructure, and the Bank would monitor progress closely.
