Urgent Outage Disrupts Australian Biosecurity Import System

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is experiencing an unplanned service disruption affecting the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS).

The outage is preventing AIMS from sending emails, both through automated processing and through normal processes used by Biosecurity Officers.

As a result, clients using the Department’s import declaration processes may experience delays in receiving responses.

The disruption affects clients submitting the following declarations:

  • Full Import Declaration (FID)
  • Long Form Self-Assessed Clearance (LFSAC)
  • Short Form Self-Assessed Clearance (SFSAC)
  • Cargo Report Self-Assessed Clearance (CRSAC)
  • Cargo Report Personal Effects (PE)

The issue also affects users of the Department of Home Affairs’ Integrated Cargo System (ICS).

DAFF said the issue is currently under investigation and will provide further advice once the service has been restored.

The Department has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.

Import system notification changes

Since 1 February 2026, notifications about biosecurity import system outages, service disruptions and maintenance have been sent through DAFF’s ‘Import system notifications’ subscription category rather than the previous Import Industry Advice Notices email service.

However, notices about changes to, or new features and services associated with, biosecurity import systems continue to be published through the Department’s Import Industry Advice Notices webpage.

Import industry participants who need to receive alerts about future system outages and disruptions should subscribe to the Department’s ‘Import system notifications’ service.
