6 August – Australia: Active participation from new members continues to grow within Australia’s Community Independents Project (CIP). Established in 2021, this non-profit organisation has been working to support, connect, and expand community-led independent political campaigns across the country.
CIP prioritises collaboration and knowledge-sharing among grassroots campaigns in electorates throughout Australia. Through training, resources, mentoring, and online events, the organisation actively engages new members in political participation.
According to CIP, “We are committed to strengthening the community independents movement, where people’s voices are at the centre of politics.”
To promote democratic participation and community-based politics, CIP is set to host a national online convention on 5 and 6 September under the theme:
“Communities In Action: Strengthening Democracy.”
This will be CIP’s fifth annual convention, bringing together independent MPs, community leaders, volunteers, changemakers, and campaigners from across Australia.
The two-day event will focus on practical strategies, skills, and real-life stories on how democracy can be driven forward by the people. It is designed to empower both newcomers and experienced organisers in the movement.
