Hong Kong Residential Fire Kills 94, Hundreds Feared Missing

Hong Kong -Report

A massive fire tore through a residential complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district on Wednesday, killing at least 94 people and injuring 76 others, authorities confirmed.
Emergency teams say around 300 residents are still unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll could climb significantly.

The blaze engulfed seven of eight apartment towers, home to more than 4,600 residents. Officials say the fire is now under control, but the cause remains unknown.

Early investigations suggest the flames may have spread rapidly due to non–fire-resistant materials used on building exteriors, combined with ongoing renovation work.

Public anger is growing as questions mount over serious safety lapses and the effectiveness of Hong Kong’s emergency response.
