Canberra, Australia

The Prime Minister today convened a meeting of the National Cabinet in response to what he described as an act of terror and antisemitism that occurred in Bondi last night.

In a statement following the meeting, the Prime Minister said the government stood firmly with Jewish Australians and condemned hatred and violence in all its forms. He emphasised that such acts would not divide the nation.

“Australia is stronger than those who seek to spread fear and hatred,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the country would overcome the challenge together.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, while federal and state leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to community safety, social cohesion and standing united against extremism.
