Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Says Preparations Complete for House of Representatives Election

Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that all logistical and security preparations have been completed for the upcoming House of Representatives by-election scheduled for March 4 (Falgun 21 in the Nepali calendar).
The announcement followed a virtual meeting chaired by Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha with Chief District Officers from all 77 districts across the country. The nearly three-hour meeting focused on election readiness, security coordination, and contingency planning.
According to ministry spokesperson Rama Acharya, district officials confirmed that all necessary arrangements are in place and that the overall security situation remains stable. “Chief District Officers have reported that preparations are complete and that the security environment is normal,” she said.
The Home Secretary directed local administrators to ensure robust and effective security deployment to guarantee a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process. Authorities also reviewed security-sensitive areas and precautionary measures to be implemented on polling day.
Officials confirmed that election materials, security personnel, and administrative staff have already been deployed to designated polling centers nationwide.
The government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that the election proceeds smoothly under secure conditions.
