Seven Victims Remain Unidentified After Deadly Protests in Kathmandu, DNA Tests Ongoing

Authorities in Nepal have reported that the identities of seven individuals who were found dead during the Gen Z protests held on September 23 and 24 in Kathmandu remain unknown.

According to Kathmandu District Police Office, a total of 49 people lost their lives in the capital during the unrest. Officials confirmed that while 42 bodies have been successfully identified and returned to their respective families, seven victims have yet to be identified.

Police spokesperson Pawan Kumar Bhattarai stated that authorities are currently conducting DNA testing in an effort to establish the identities of the remaining victims.

The unidentified bodies were reportedly found in severely burned conditions, with remains reduced largely to skeletal form, making visual identification impossible.

Investigations are ongoing as officials continue efforts to determine the identities of the deceased and provide closure to affected families.
