Australia, India Deepen Cooperation in Defence, Trade and Technology During Modi Visit

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reaffirmed the strength of Australia–India relations, saying the partnership between the two countries “has never been stronger” as he welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi back to Australia.

In a statement released during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, Albanese said Australia and India are expanding cooperation across key sectors, including defence, trade, investment, energy, education and technology.

“The relationship between Australia and India has never been stronger,” Albanese said, adding that the two nations are working together to be “a force for peace and prosperity in our region.”

The Australian Prime Minister highlighted the growing economic partnership between the countries, noting that stronger collaboration will support businesses, create jobs in Australia and unlock new trade and investment opportunities.

Albanese also acknowledged the contribution of the Indian-Australian community and the strong people-to-people ties that have helped strengthen business and economic links between the two nations.

He said the Australian Government will continue working with business leaders and universities to deepen economic cooperation with India and expand opportunities for both countries.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit comes as Australia and India continue to strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through increased cooperation in regional security, clean energy, critical minerals, education, innovation and bilateral trade.
