King Abdullah II visits Australia for defence and security talks
King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will visit Australia from 13 to 14 October 2026, welcomed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The visit marks his first official trip to Australia since 2016.
Australia and Jordan are working together to advance peace and regional security, support humanitarian efforts, counter terrorism and violent extremism, grow trade and strengthen cooperation on resources, energy and the environment, according to the Prime Minister’s office.
During his visit to Canberra, King Abdullah II will hold a range of meetings and undertake defence and cultural engagements.
“In a time of increasing uncertainty around the world, ongoing defence and security cooperation between Australia and Jordan is essential, as regional security partners,” Prime Minister Albanese said.
