Dolly Parton Made Our World a Better Place: Albanese Pays Tribute
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has paid tribute to legendary singer, songwriter and philanthropist Dolly Parton, saying she made the world a better place in countless ways.
In a statement, Albanese described Parton as an artist of “rare power and talent” who also made her mark as an actor, author and philanthropist.
He praised her strong personality, compassion, humour and humanity, saying her character was deeply connected to the humble strength of her roots.
Albanese also recalled a memorable encounter with Parton during his time in government. He said he helped overcome some bureaucratic red tape so that her tour bus could travel on Australian roads during her 2011 tour.
“It was a magical experience meeting her,” Albanese said, adding that one of the highlights was seeing Parton surrounded by her many Australian fans.
The Prime Minister said Australians and people around the world were mourning the loss of a much-loved entertainer.
“There are a lot of broken hearts in Australia and across the world today,” he said.
Albanese encouraged people to remember Parton through her music, suggesting they turn up their stereos or phones and listen to her songs.
He concluded his tribute with a simple farewell to the global music icon: “May the great Dolly Parton rest in peace.”
