Albanese Speaks With Trump on Middle East, Pacific and AUKUS Cooperation
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has spoken with US President Donald Trump about major global and regional developments, including the conflict in the Middle East and security issues in the Pacific.
In a statement following the conversation, Mr Albanese said the two leaders also discussed progress under the AUKUS security partnership between Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
“Last night I spoke with President Donald J. Trump about global and regional developments, including in the Middle East and the Pacific,” Mr Albanese said.
The leaders also discussed growing cooperation on critical minerals and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The conversation comes as Australia and the United States continue to strengthen cooperation on defence, critical minerals and advanced technologies. AUKUS remains a major focus of the bilateral relationship, including Australia’s planned acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines.
Mr Albanese said he looked forward to continuing cooperation with President Trump on shared priorities.
The latest discussion highlights the continuing strategic importance of the Australia–United States relationship amid growing security and economic challenges in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
