The ANFS Dashain Celebration 2026 will be held from 5pm to 11pm on Sunday, October 11, at Weston Creek Community Centre, Whitney Place, Weston, ACT.

According to the organisers, the event will feature Nepali culture, traditions, music, dance and community activities, providing an opportunity for people to celebrate Dashain while maintaining connections with Nepalese heritage in Australia. Dashain is Nepal’s major annual festival and is traditionally associated with family gatherings, blessings, cultural traditions and community celebrations. For Nepali communities living overseas, events such as the Canberra celebration provide an opportunity to pass cultural traditions to younger generations while bringing families and the broader community together.

The organisation supports a range of cultural and community activities, including Nepali language education for school-age children through Hamro Pathashala, a Nepali-language radio programme and celebrations of major Nepalese and Australian festivals. ANFS also participates in multicultural events in Canberra, with members volunteering to showcase Nepalese cultural heritage and contribute to community activities.
