Australia to Host New Zealand Prime Minister for Annual Leaders’ Meeting
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will welcome New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to Australia on 6 June 2026 for the annual Australia–New Zealand Leaders’ Meeting.
The meeting, to be held in Noosa, will focus on strengthening economic resilience and exploring measures to boost prosperity in both countries, including responses to the ongoing fuel crisis.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss opportunities to strengthen the Australia–New Zealand Single Economic Market, deepen defence and security cooperation, and enhance collaboration across the Pacific region.
The previous Australia–New Zealand Leaders’ Meeting was held in Queenstown in August 2025. This visit marks Prime Minister Luxon’s third official trip to Australia. His most recent visit was to Canberra in August 2024 for the Leaders’ Meeting.
Prime Minister Albanese said Australia and New Zealand share an enduring partnership built on a rich history and generations of cooperation.
“Australia has no closer friend, neighbour and ally than New Zealand,” he said.
The leaders will also mark the 75th anniversary of the ANZUS Treaty, highlighting the importance of the alliance in addressing global uncertainty and emerging regional challenges.
Prime Minister Albanese said Australia and New Zealand would continue working together to safeguard economic prosperity, strengthen regional security, and advance shared interests in the Pacific.
