Kathmandu, October 4, 2025 – The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday on Ashoj 19 and 20 (October 5–6, 2025) for all government and non-government offices, excluding essential services, due to ongoing heavy rainfall and increased risk of floods and landslides.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, heavy rainfall has been recorded across many regions of the country from Ashoj 18 to Ashoj 20 (October 4–6, 2025). This has led to severe impacts on transportation, road safety, and local communities.

The Ministry of Home Affairs urges all citizens to:

  • Stay alert and monitor local weather updates
  • Avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve
  • Remain at home or in safe locations during this period

This proactive measure is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens amid adverse weather conditions.
