Two men have been charged with multiple driving offences following separate incidents in Canberra’s south on Sunday night.
At about 6:20pm on 15 February 2026, a white BMW 320I sedan was observed entering the carpark at the Chisholm shopping centre and stopping in a taxi zone during routine patrols. The 36-year-old driver from Isabella Plains was subjected to a roadside drug screening test, which returned a positive indication for a prescribed drug.
He was subsequently conveyed to Tuggeranong Police Station, where further testing allegedly confirmed the presence of two prescribed drugs. Police checks further revealed that the man was suspended from driving at the time of the incident. The vehicle was also found to be unregistered and uninsured.
The man, who was subject to a good behaviour order, has been charged with drug driving, driving while suspended, and using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. An appearance is scheduled at the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, 16 February 2026.
In a separate incident at about 8:50pm, a silver Jeep Wrangler was detected travelling at 100km/h in an 80km/h zone along Ashley Drive in Monash. Emergency lights and sirens were activated; however, the vehicle allegedly failed to stop and continued into Isabella Plains.
The vehicle was later driven into a residential property, and the driver fled inside the residence. The 38-year-old man was subsequently located and placed under arrest. It was confirmed that he was also subject to a good behaviour order at the time.
He has been charged with failing to stop for police and driving while disqualified. A court appearance has also been scheduled at the ACT Magistrates Court.
