Four Charged Over Separate Family Violence Incidents in Canberra

Canberra, ACT — 23 March 2026

Four people have been charged following a series of unrelated family violence incidents across Canberra, with all accused scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Police allege that a 37-year-old man from Bonython assaulted his partner at a residence in Gordon in the early hours of 11 March 2026. The incident, which reportedly occurred about 3:30am, left the woman with injuries to her face and chest. The man was arrested shortly after 4:00am on Monday and has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

In a separate matter, a 38-year-old Whitlam man was arrested on Sunday following allegations he stalked and assaulted his partner on three occasions across February and March. He has been charged with assault, stalking, and property damage.

Another incident involved a 24-year-old Whitlam woman, who was arrested on Sunday after allegedly assaulting her mother with a knife. The victim sustained minor injuries to her hand. The woman has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

In a fourth unrelated incident, an 80-year-old woman from Nicholls was taken into custody on Monday morning. Police allege she threatened her husband with a knife, threw items at him, and damaged his hearing aids. She has been charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, property damage, and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.

All four individuals are expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court later today. Police have not released further details, and investigations into the incidents are ongoing.

Authorities continue to urge anyone experiencing family violence to seek support and report incidents to police.
