Former Canberra Liberals Leader Leanne Castley Quits Party
Former Canberra Liberals leader Leanne Castley has resigned from the party and will sit as an independent on the ACT crossbench. She cited a “toxic culture” within the party, alleging bullying, intimidation, and a threat of physical assault over the past 18 months. Castley said the situation had become a distraction from her work representing constituents. She confirmed the alleged threat had been reported internally and that she is considering police action. Current opposition leader Mark Parton rejected claims of a toxic culture but said concerns raised were taken seriously.
