Australia Works with Global Partners to Secure Fuel Supply Amid Overseas Conflict
Canberra, ACT — 23 March 2026
The Australian government is taking proactive steps to ensure fuel continues to move to where it is needed most, amid disruptions to global supply caused by international conflicts.
Today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with Dr. Fatih Birol of the International Energy Agency to discuss ongoing efforts with trading partners to secure fuel supply.
“Conflict overseas is impacting global supply, so we are taking action to manage the impacts here at home,” Mr. Albanese said. “By working closely with our partners around the world, we are ensuring Australia stays strong and ready for what’s ahead.”
The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to energy security and maintaining stability for Australian consumers and businesses, even amid international uncertainty.
