Free Child and Family Support Services Available Across Canberra
Families in Canberra are being encouraged to take advantage of free support services offered through Child and Family Centres, an initiative of the ACT Government.
The centres provide expert advice and practical support for parents and carers, focusing on early childhood development, parenting skills, and strengthening family relationships. A range of programs is also available, including playgroups, parenting workshops, and children’s activities, with culturally inclusive services supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Three centres operate across Canberra:
• West Belconnen Child and Family Centre in Holt
• Gungahlin Child and Family Centre in Gungahlin Town Centre
• Tuggeranong Child and Family Centre in Greenway
All services are free, with no bookings required. Families can simply drop in on weekdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Most programs are tailored for families with children up to 8 years of age, with some services extending to children up to 12 years.
