Kathmandu, Oct 7 – The Election Commission of Nepal has approved the official schedule for the upcoming House of Representatives election set for March 5 (Falgun 21). According to the timetable endorsed on Monday, all election-related activities will proceed within the specified timeframe.
As per the schedule, political parties will be able to register with the Election Commission from Mangsir 1 to 10 2082 B.S.. The Commission will establish the office of the election officer for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system from Magh 2, said Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
For the proportional representation (PR) system, election officers’ offices will be set up on Mangsir 15, and political parties will be required to submit their closed lists between Poush 18 and 19 ,2082 B.S..
The Commission has allocated the election campaign period from Falgun 3 to Falgun 18, after which a pre-election silence period will come into effect.
On Falgun 21, voters across the country will cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Following the close of voting, ballot boxes will be collected, and vote counting will commence immediately.
The Commission stated that all election preparations from political party registration to campaigning and vote counting will be conducted according to the approved timeline to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
