Father of Former Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Cremated at Pashupatinath, Nepal
Kathmandu, Nepal — Mohan Prasad Oli, father of former Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, was cremated on Friday at the Pashupatinath Aryaghat in Kathmandu, Nepal according to family sources. The funeral was conducted in accordance with Hindu rites, with KP Sharma Oli personally lighting the funeral pyre.
Mohan Prasad Oli passed away on Friday morning while receiving treatment at the Nepal–Korea Friendship Hospital in Bhaktapur, following health complications experienced the previous night.
Prior to the cremation, senior leaders from multiple political parties, party workers, relatives, and family members visited the hospital to pay their respects.
In recent months, Mohan Prasad Oli had been residing at his daughter’s home in Bhaktapur’s Gatthaghar area. He had not returned to his native Jhapa district after his residence there was damaged in an arson attack during the Gen Z movement protests in September of last year.
No further details regarding his age or additional funeral arrangements have been disclosed at this time.
