Unity for Autism, a US-based charitable organization, has provided financial assistance of USD 4,000 (approximately NPR 603,727.50) to support children with autism in Nepal through education, therapy, and rehabilitation initiatives.
The funds were raised during a charity dinner event organized in the United States on April 18, 2026, with the participation of social workers, philanthropists, and members of the Nepali community.
According to Special School and Rehabilitation Centre (SSDRC), the donated amount will be used for building construction, educational resources, therapy equipment, and rehabilitation services for children with autism.
The donation handover ceremony was attended by children with autism and members of the community. During the event, SSDRC Chairperson Sabita Upreti formally received the contribution and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, donors, and all supporters who contributed directly and indirectly to the success of the program. She stated that such international support plays a significant role in improving education, treatment, and rehabilitation opportunities for children with special needs in Nepal.
The event was led by Sushma Shrestha and her team, whose efforts were recognized for successfully organizing the fundraising initiative. Organizers also extended appreciation to all volunteers, philanthropists, and community members involved in supporting the cause.
The contribution is expected to strengthen inclusive education, special care services, and social inclusion efforts for children with autism in Nepal, while highlighting the growing support of the international Nepali community toward disability advocacy and child welfare initiatives.
