ACT Government Unveils 2026–27 Women’s Budget Statement
ACT Minister for Women, Marisa Paterson has released the 2026–27 Women’s Budget Statement, outlining the Government’s continued commitment to advancing gender equity across Canberra.
The Budget includes major investments in women’s health and wellbeing, including new health centres, upgraded facilities, expanded perinatal mental health support, improved reproductive health services, and enhanced maternity care.
Funding has also been allocated to strengthen responses to domestic, family and sexual violence through frontline services, specialist programs, and legal support for women and families.
The Government will continue initiatives aimed at increasing women’s workforce participation, particularly in industries where women remain under-represented, while also maintaining significant investment in housing and homelessness services.
Looking ahead, work has begun on a new 10-year ACT Plan for Women, Girls and Gender Equity, which will commence in 2027 and build on the achievements of the ACT Women’s Plan 2016–2026. The newly established ACT Women’s Advisory Council for Gender Equity will help guide the development of the plan through community consultation and strategic advice.
Minister Paterson said the initiatives reflect a vision for a more equal, safe and inclusive Canberra where women, girls and gender-diverse people can fully participate and reach their potential.
