ACT Government welcomes new international milestone as Virgin Australia launches direct Canberra–Bali flights
Canberra, ACT — The ACT Government has welcomed a significant expansion of the Territory’s international aviation network, with Virgin Australia commencing direct flights between Canberra and Bali from today.
The new service represents Virgin Australia’s first international route operating from Canberra Airport and provides a non-stop connection between the nation’s capital and one of the most in-demand travel destinations in the region.
Operating three return services per week, the route is expected to improve travel convenience for ACT residents and surrounding communities by removing the need for interstate connections through larger capital city airports.
The flights are scheduled with afternoon departures from Canberra and overnight return services from Bali, designed to support smoother travel connections and maximise time spent at destination.
Virgin Australia is currently the only Australian-based carrier operating international services from Canberra and will be the sole airline servicing the Canberra–Bali route.
The introduction of this service is expected to strengthen Canberra’s position as a growing international gateway, with further opportunities for expansion as demand continues to increase across the region.
ACT Government representatives have noted that the development reflects continued investment in aviation infrastructure and supports broader goals of improving connectivity, tourism growth, and economic development for the Territory.
