New Original Teej Song “Rato Chura Ratai Sari” Released, Celebrating Nepali Culture and Women’s Emotions

Kathmandu, Nepal – A new original Nepali Teej song titled “Rato Chura Ratai Sari” has been released on the occasion of Haritalika Teej, one of the most significant festivals celebrated by Nepali Hindu women around the world.

Haritalika Teej is a festival deeply connected with faith, devotion, love, and cultural traditions. Celebrated in remembrance of the sacred union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the festival holds special importance among Nepali women. Married women traditionally observe fasting and pray for the long life, happiness, and prosperity of their husbands and families, while unmarried women participate with the belief of finding a suitable life partner.

Beyond its religious significance, Teej is also a cultural celebration that brings daughters back to their maternal homes, allowing families to reunite, share emotions, sing traditional songs, and strengthen social bonds. The festival is widely known for its colourful celebrations, traditional attire, dancing, and heartfelt Teej songs.

Marking this special occasion, singer Usha Gajurel has released her new original Teej song “Rato Chura Ratai Sari”. The song features lyrics, music, and vocals by Usha Gajurel. The music video is directed by Mirak Lingdom Limbu, with choreography by Suresh Pandey. Actress Elina Rayamajhi has delivered an engaging performance, adding life and emotion to the video.

Teej songs are an important part of Nepal’s folk music heritage. Traditionally, these songs have provided a platform for women to express their personal experiences, emotions, struggles, relationships, love for their maternal homes, and social realities. Over the years, Teej songs have evolved with modern influences, but original folk-based songs continue to preserve Nepal’s cultural identity, traditions, and stories for future generations.

Based on traditional Nepali culture and the emotional essence of Teej, “Rato Chura Ratai Sari” presents themes of family relationships, a daughter’s attachment to her maternal home, and social issues within Nepali society. The song also highlights the emotional aspects surrounding inter-caste marriage, reflecting changing social perspectives and realities in Nepal.

With its traditional rhythm, cultural message, and authentic Nepali style, “Rato Chura Ratai Sari” aims to promote and preserve Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. At a time when many modern-style Teej songs are being released, this song stands out by focusing on originality, meaningful storytelling, and the emotional connection between Nepali women, their families, and traditions.

The official music video of “Rato Chura Ratai Sari” is now available on YouTube, allowing audiences in Nepal and across the global Nepali community to experience the celebration of Teej through music and culture.
